Frequently Asked Questions
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, I have availability for new clients on a limited basis and am usually able to schedule an initial assessment appointment within a short timeframe of our brief consult call. I offer in-person appointments one day per week.
Can I use my insurance?
Maybe. Many health plans reimburse a substantial portion of my fees—I will provide a monthly invoice for clients to submit claims to their insurer directly. I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans. Clients are responsible for payment in full at the time of scheduled services, regardless of insurance coverage. Medicare will NOT reimburse for my services. Please click here for questions to ask your health insurer.
Do you have evening and/or weekend availability?
YES! I have evening availability, as well as Saturday morning availability. Weekday evenings tend to fill, so new clients will likely be offered a daytime appointment. I will do my best to accommodate your scheduling needs.
How often will we meet?
In most cases, therapy sessions will occur weekly, so that you can get the most benefit and progress toward your goals. Sometimes clients need more intensive therapy, in which case we would meet more frequently. As you are getting the desired results from our work, we may reduce session frequency.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends. The length of therapy depends on the specific issues being addressed and the extent to which there is effort between sessions. Therapeutic issues that are well-defined, focused and goal-oriented may be able to be fully addressed in 6-16 sessions. Therapy for complicated, deep, longstanding and/or multiple issues tends to require more time. Additionally, clients may have preferences and/or needs that determine the course and duration. Therapy is expected to continue until your goals are met, you discontinue treatment, or we decide that another treatment avenue is more appropriate. This could mean weeks, months, or even years.
I’m ready to get started. What now?
First, contact me. We’ll connect for a brief (~15 minutes) introduction and explanation of my services. If we’re a good fit and you want to move forward, you will be sent the the new client forms via secure portal to complete. Once I have your completed paperwork, we will confirm scheduling. The therapy process starts with an intake assessment and treatment planning. From there, we will meet weekly for therapy sessions to collaborate in service of your goals.
Who do you work with? What problems do you treat?
My practice is focused on helping adult clients awaken to, define, and move forward to their best and most meaningful life. I aim to help clients address patterns that aren’t working for them or things that are getting in the way of living their best life. I enjoy working with professionals, older adults, and individuals seeking growth, connection, and healing. People from all backgrounds are welcome.
The therapies I use address a range of problems affecting quality of life, mood, life satisfaction, and functioning. My specialties include insomnia, post-traumatic stress, grief/loss/adjustment, anxiety (panic, phobias, social, general) and mild to moderate alcohol/substance use problems.
I work best with people who want to collaborate to: get unstuck, learn skills, heal emotional wounds, and build a meaningful life. While I don’t have the answers for your life, I will devote time and energy to our work—both during and between sessions—to support, guide, and facilitate the change you seek. You will choose your path and therapy requires active efforts on your part to move your life forward.
